Description : 11.1.8 lipid metabolism.FA synthesis and FA elongation.acyl coa ligase Encodes a plastidic acetyl-coA synthetase. This enzyme plays a role in converting acetate to acetyl-coA in the plastids. It does not appear to be a major contributor to fatty acid biosynthesis based on mutant phenotypes. The enzyme seems to act as a monomer and may play an important role in preventing the toxic accumulation of fermentation products including acetaldehyde, acetate, and ethanol. It participates in the pyruvate dehydrogenase bypass pathway acetyl-CoA synthetase (ACS)
